Maximo is a big black handsome Greyhound who has retired from Greyhound racing. Maximo has been under assessment for a little while because it has taken him a little longer than usual to show his true self. It was certainly worth the wait as he is a real character! Maximo is a bit of a clown and is a happy, friendly boy.

The reason Maximo has taken so long to profile is that he is a great pretender, the words of the song sum Maximo up perfectly-
“Oh yes, I’m the great pretender, pretending that I’m doing well.
My need is such I pretend too much, I’m lonely, but no one can tell.”

We believe Maximo has probably seen some harsh times in his short life, but instead of becoming a timid cowering dog, he pretends he’s brave and doesn’t care.
We do, however, believe he worries and his bravado is all a front, and that sometimes he is very afraid and worried but doesn’t like to show it.
Max adores and craves attention and does silly things to make you laugh, but more than anything we know he enjoys a quiet fuss and cuddle.

Maximo loves to play, he’s a big boy so needs a home without small people who may get knocked over during his more exuberant moments. He needs to live as an only dog as Maximo doesn’t like to share, he has had to learn to look out for himself where sharing would have meant going without, when being put in that situation like that you can understand why he doesn’t like to share.

Maximo would benefit from an experienced dog owner, he is not cat safe, and care will need to be taken around small dogs. Maximo will need to understanding and be given guidance and boundaries in his new home, he will make you smile and laugh every day, he will be a fabulous companion and will reward you threefold for your love.
If you adopt Maximo we guarantee this handsome boy will become one of the greatest loves of your life, he’s one boy that will always remain very special in your heart.
