Quieter than the town's North Beach, Aberystwyth's Seaside Award South Beach is sandwiched between the town's castle and the harbour breakwater. It is a gently sloping sand and shingle beach which catches the sun for most of the day.

The southern end of the beach, by the 'harbour trap', is a favourite spot for experienced surfers and is a great spot for spotting dolphins and porpoises.

The beach can be accessed via a concrete slipway opposite the end of South Marine Terrace, or there are steps between the slipway and the breakwater at Castle Point, and two more flights of steps between the slipway and the breakwater at the south end of the beach.

The large sweep of the pebbled Tanybwlch beach is to the south of the harbour at Aberystwyth.

As always reactive dogs to be muzzled, please. Minimum £5 donation

    Oswestry Food and Drink Festival

    Oswestry Food and Drink Festival.
    8th & 9th July 9am-3pm

Hector's will hold a stall at this hugely popular event. It takes to the streets of Oswestry for 2 days & it's free, fun, and tasty.

On Saturday the usual market stalls rub shoulders with food and drink from all over Shropshire and North Wales. Get your taste buds ready to try all sorts of new flavours. Watch out for the street entertainers and take a few minutes to enjoy them. Sample the flavours from the local brewery or distillery and don’t miss the totally scrumptious cake stalls. Street food of all kinds is just waiting to be enjoyed and it isn’t a good weekend for calorie counting!

Sunday is more laid back and just the day to take your foodie goodies and enjoy them in Cae Glas Park. There’s usually ice cream on sale and it’s a great place for all the family. You could work off some of the calories from that scrumptious food with a game of crazy golf or crown green bowls and the smaller children will love the playground.

It’s a great weekend to get to know the local pubs and cafes too. They often have something new going on, and what could be better to end the day than a pint and listening to some of the local music talent?
