Who is Brian
Brian is a two-year old Lurcher who was rescued by Hector’s when he was around six months old when he was found abandoned with a badly broken front leg. Brian, apart from his broken leg had clearly had a very difficult and traumatic start to his young life which has sadly had a long-lasting impact on him.
Brian underwent extensive specialist orthopaedic surgery to repair his leg. Unfortunately, the enforced rest while his leg healed did little to help correct the vital lack of socialisation he had as a puppy.
Brian is reactive to other dogs, strange situations and some people. Brian has received behaviour therapy and been placed in several foster homes with behaviour support. Sadly, Brian has proved difficult to rehabilitate as his dislike of some people poses a real safety risk, after much soul-searching, Hector’s have decided this risk is too great and Brian will now remain as permanent resident at Hector’s Kennels.
Brian is however happy living in the kennels and as a permanent resident does enjoy many extra benefits to the other dogs as his kennel full of toys will testify! Brian loves to collect toys and scurries them away to his bed.
Although Brian is unable to socialise with the other dogs, due to his aggression, he does interact with them and is making progress with this. He loves, much to their amusement, to race the Greyhounds up and down the fence of the paddock.
Hector’s do everything possible to enrich Brian’s life and remain hopeful that as he gets older his reactive nature may improve and he may be considered suitable for rehoming to a very special home.
